Highlands Team Match Play

The format will be 18-hole four-ball match play.  Each player in the match plays their own ball but only the best net score for each team is used for scoring in the match.

90% of the handicaps are taken. The low handicap player then reverts to a 0 handicap and gives the higher handicap players appropriate strokes as indicated on the scorecard. For players with a ‘plus’ handicap they will give strokes back to the course beginning with the stroke index 18 then will revert to a 0 handicap (See page 92 in the Rules of Handicapping).

All players are guaranteed 2 matches. Winners of the first match will continue in the Championship Flight. Losers of the first match will drop to the Consolation Flight. Single elimination will exist from that point onward.

The entry fee is $50 a team, $25 will be charged to each member’s account.

  • All matches must be completed by the deadlines for each round as indicated. NO GRACE PERIOD WILL BE PROVIDED.

  • If a match is not completed within the specified deadlines one of the following will occur:

    1. Coin toss will determine the winner, where both parties have made equal efforts to schedule and play.

    1. In extreme cases, the team that has generally been unavailable to play (e.g. out of town, medically unable, busy, etc.) or made minimal effort to make arrangements to play will forfeit the match. This would be only in a clear case where one team was generally available and made effort to play and the other was not. A decision will be made by the Club Captain’s Committee.

Tied matches will be settled by a putt off on the practice putting green from 15 feet. All players will putt out until their ball is holed and the lowest total combined score for the team will determine the winner. Order of play will be determined by flipping a tee. Alternate between team members using this order: Team 1-Player 1, Team 2-Player 1, Team 1-Player 2 and Team 2-Player 2. If putt off ends in a tie, repeat entire process again until a winner is determined.
